Learn > Connect > Do : East Mids - 1st Dec 2016
Thu 1 December 2016, 15:00 – 18:00 GMT
What's the topic for December?
Do we still need offices?
We took to the streets for inspiration in September - discovering how our surroundings can help us discover answers to questions we've been grappling with. So, to continue this theme of the impact of 'place and space' on our work and effectiveness, we're making the workplace our focus for December. What impact does your workplace have on the culture, on engagement, on encouraging silos?
Each quarter we use a new facilitation approach so that, not only are you learning about the topic, you’re also learning a new tool or approach that you could take back to work.
This quarter I'm delighted to invite Dan Pilling as speaker and provocateur to bring his insights as an expert in workplace design, and Chair of the BIFM Workplace Special Interest Group. Dan's going to use a Pecha Kucha style presentation to share his insights and the latest thinking about the workplace.
Joining him will be Ian Ellison, partner at 3edges, Deputy Chair of the BIFM Workplace SIG. Ian works at the interface where workspace and culture collide to help organisations perform better. He will offer a PK style presentation of his own exploring how different professions consider space and place and showcase some research evidence about what really matters when it comes to workplace.
After that we'll get into debate and discussion to generate ideas for where we work. And let's face it, most businesses don't have Google-esque budgets for this stuff, so it's going to be about getting creative and discovering what we CAN do with what we have.Chocolate will, of course, be provided to boost brain power and as it's Christmas and LCD's first birthday(!) Prosecco will also be on offer for your complimentary drink :)
