To make the “Essential” tool list means no other tool can do the job. Put simply if you want to drill a hole then you need a drill. Most households have a drill these days but few know how to use it properly or know what the functions of this tool are actually for.
The same goes for cutting wood. If you want to make a shelf for your cupboard, lay some flooring or build something for the garden then you will need to be able to cut straight. On the other hand, if you need to cut shapes or cut a section out of a board or notch around a radiator pipe then that’s a different tool to cutting straight.
Join David for a crash course on the Drill, the Circular Saw and the Jigsaw to learn all the do’s and don’ts. Learn how to use these three DIY lifesavers properly and safely.
By booking this course, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions.

General information for your visit.
Please wear clothes suitable for dusty work, sensible shoes and bring your own lunch. Please wear warm clothes in the winter. The workshop can feel very cold due to the concrete floors in the building. There is a local shop nearby if you wish to buy lunch or you can bring a packed lunch with you. Tea and coffee is provided throughout the day.
If you have some of your own tools and would like to learn how to use them properly, then you are welcome to bring them and use them on the course. We have a fully equipped workshop so there is no need to bring anything, but some students like to bring their own.
