Learn how to win campaigns in 2017 (free places available)
Wed 15 March 2017, 15:00 – 17:00 GMT
2016 was a difficult and sobering year for many campaigners and it feels that a radical rethink of our approaches will be needed to have an impact in 2017. Last year a ground breaking report by NetChange Consulting in Canada identified a powerful new model, “directed-network campaigning”, running through high-impact campaigns, such as the Bernie Sanders grassroots mobilisation campaign and the Fight for $15.
SMK is very pleased to announce that we will be hosting NetChange strategist Tom Liacas, in March for three fascinating events. This is the first time that NetChange has been over to the UK. Collectively they have designed and led over 75 campaigns that changed laws, elected governments, raised millions of dollars, and mobilised tens of millions of people. At the events, you will learn how directed-network campaigning can radically boost your impact.
This event is an afternoon seminar in which Tom will be presenting an overview of the key learnings from the report. During the seminar, we will look at how the advocacy landscape has shifted in the past 15 years, the advantages of networked campaigning and the key lessons from the NetChange report. There will be time for questions and discussion about how you can apply some of the lessons from the NetChange report to your campaigns.
We have space for up to 60 attendees and the seminar is just £25 to cover venue costs. We will also be holding back some free places for campaigners with no funds, if you would like one of these places please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a short outline of why you would like a free place.
The other two events are hands on full day trainings that will outline the strategic patterns and operational practices common to campaigns that have punched well above their weight. These sessions will be limited to 15 participants each to make sure that attendees can get in depth support from Tom and SMK and forensically evaluate their campaigning. You can book a place on those trainings at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/sheila-mckechnie-foundation-smk-2903230343.
