Description

We all know about the importance of exercising regularly but how often do we think about our mental and emotional fitness? Mindfulness in 8 Weeks is an opportunity for you to learn to manage stress and nourish ourselves through practising mindfulness meditation.

This secular course is made up of four sessions. Sessions take place on the following Saturdays:

Sessions 1-3: May 19th; June 2nd and June 16th 2018 (9.30am-1.30pm)
Session 4: June 30th 2018 (10am-5pm)

The course is based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme developed by Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues combined with elements derived from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). It follows the outlines laid out in Michael Chaskalson’s book: Mindfulness in Eight Weeks.

The course is helpful for learning to manage general stress, anxiety, pain. It has a strong evidence base and is recommended by NICE to help prevent relapse of depression.

Many people who complete this course report benefits such as an increased ability to relax, greater energy and enthusiasm for life, heightened self-confidence and assertiveness, and an increased ability to cope more effectively with stress. They also find that they are kinder towards themselves and others, and more accepting of whatever situation they find themselves in.

This particular format is a great way to complete an 8 week course if you find it difficult to attend on a weekly basis. The course content and duration is exactly the same.

Home practice is an important part of the course and participants are asked to commit to between 20-30 minutes of practice, six days a week. Home practice includes guided meditations as well as exercises to weave mindfulness into everyday life.

The course fee includes all tuition and audio downloads and a copy of Mindfulness in Eight Weeks to support the home practice.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Nearest tubes Royal Oak (Hammersmith & City, Circle); Bayswater (District & Circle); Queensway (Central Line); Paddington (Bakerloo, Hammersmith & City, Circle, Mainline). Parking is pay and display until 1.30pm. There are also many bus links.

What can I bring into the event?

There is no need to bring anything except an open mind. You are welcome to bring a yoga mat or towel/blanket if you'd like to lie down on the floor to meditate.


What's the refund policy?

Refunds are available up to 7 days before the course starts. Once you the course has started there are no refunds given.
