About this Event

Learn, Share, MOVE! (SECONDARY) LAUNCH

Come and join us for our launch evening in North Essex. It is primarily aimed at those that teach children 11+ but is open to all in Essex! The evening offers an insight into how the programme works throughout the year.

Part of the evening will centre on a discussion of the theme of this year's programme. We will also be trying to unpick any challenges you currently face in delivering dance so we can add these to our discussions at future evening events to help support these areas of need.

Monthly adult dance technique classes will also be offered by a guest artist each month between November and April 2020 to support your dance delivery.

As part of the programme, each participant will be asked to attend with a group of their students (student costs £15 each) to take part in a professional practice day in January. This will be a day of dance where students will take part in professional workshops led by various dance artists and companies. We will also be bringing various universities and conservatoires together to talk about and discuss where young people may look to as to their next steps in dance. This should also benefit the teachers in attendance so they are aware of current places/schemes to attend. If you are unable to bring your students you are welcome to attend, take part and/or observe in the sessions as part of your membership.

Following this day, we will be asking you to start developing a dance piece with your students with a view to an initial sharing of this in April 2020 - it can be a work in progress at this time.

The informal sharing of work from your school groups in April will be at Clacton Coastal Academy. Here guest artists and students will offer each other feedback on their performance pieces in order to help develop them. An informal piece will also be delivered by a performance company to help get the students motivated and inspired.

If you would like, you will also be able to then apply to take your piece to stage as part of our Summer Festival in July 2020.

Cost of the programme following the launch:

For schools (up to 3 teachers can attend)

£300.00 plus student professional day cost at £15.00 per young person

For individuals / community artists and schools of intake less than 80

£150.00 plus student professional day cost at £15.00 per young person
