The National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) Bronze National Navigation Award is a practical hands-on award. It is aimed at people with no navigation experience whether you are new to the outdoors or have been relying on others, guidebooks or easy well-defined routes.

This navigation course is also the starting point for many Duke of Edinburgh students, scouts and guides and cadet groups who are looking to develop their outdoor map reading skills. NNAS Bronze award is accredited by the Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 4, and 2 SCQF credit points are awarded on completion. (See FAQs for more)

The syllabus of the Bronze National Navigation Award teaches navigation in the countryside using paths tracks and other linear features. Basic map interpretation and compass work is also included.

This 2 day course will be based around Holmfirth, West Yorkshire located in the Peak District, a village made famous by the TV series “Last of the Summer Wine”.

Day 1 will start with an outdoor classroom input, and then out onto the Peak District footpaths to practise some map reading and compass work.

Day 2 will be out on the trails all day, and will include individual assessments.

The 2 days will be very relaxed and enjoyable. Successful candidates will receive an official NNAS certificate.

You will require decent walking boots, waterproofs, rucksack with enough food and water for each day.

This is our most popular course, its an introduction to the outdoors, very relaxed and we can guarantee that you will enjoy it.

2 Day course - £125 per person (discounts available for groups)
