This course offers you the exciting chance to begin your coaching journey. You will learn about the fundamentals skills of being a coach and how to apply these skills within a gymnastics environment.

You will learn the roles and responsibilities of a coach, develop a basic understanding of the technicalities of gymnastics, and understand the role of a helper within coaching sessions.

Scottish Gymnastics have requested that each individual candidate books themselves directly on to the course through British Gymnastics JustGo booking system and makes payment at the time of booking which then they will receive confirmation. https://mybg.british-gymnastics.org/workbench/public/events?ref=C0F3835CDA9105B68BE83724C82536C5354E3877

As part of the LEAD Sport programme, we have funding to cover these costs, but these will be paid directly to your bank account, once you have booked your child on to the course and proof of payment is received. Confirmation of booking should be sent to: Lmunro@liveactive.co.uk

LEAD Sport

Leadership, Employabilty and development in Sport for young People in Perth & Kinross.

All our leadership courses are supported by the Gannochy Trust and provide Perth and Kinross Council school pupils with the opportunity to earn introductory sports coaching and leadership qualifications. This is an excellent way to develop communication and leadership skills, build confidence, gain recognised qualifications, and acquire experience in sports coaching.

As part of the project, the aim for you to volunteer for 25 hours in a school or community club setting. (If you are an Aspiring Coach, this is not an additional requirement.) Your Active Schools Coordinator, who is based at your school, can assist you in finding a local placement. These volunteer hours can also be counted towards other awards, such as the Saltire Award and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Please note the following terms and conditions:

  • The course is run by the Active Schools team - school staff are not present.
  • It is your responsibility to arrange travel arrangements to and from the venue.
  • Courses may involve work before, during and after the course which must be completed in order to gain the qualification.
  • The course is supported by Perth and Kinross Education Services and is only available to pupils, staff and volunteers from Perth and Kinross council schools.
  • If you have additional support needs, please let us know.
  • You will receive an email notification through our Eventbrite registration process of your confirmed place on the course.
  • You must inform the organiser if you are unable to attend the course at least one week before (where possible). If you fail to attend without informing the organiser you will be charged the full value of the course (if applied) and no refunds can be provided.
