Event description
If you've always wanted to try drawing with coloured pencil but lacked the confidence to have a go, this workshop is for you!

About this Event

You'll spend the morning having a go at a series of different drawing exercises and learning skills you can apply to any subject. You'll discover how coloured pencils can be used to create rich textures and fine details, and how you can apply your skills to create realistic drawings of animals. In this session, the beautiful Great-spotted Woodpecker will be our chosen subject.

The workshop will be led by Emily Summers, artist behind Miss Magpie Wildlife Art. Miss Magpie Wildlife Art started in 2012 when Emily began taking commissions for pet portraits, and she has more recently used her passion for nature as inspiration for her wildlife drawings. Her work has been exhibited in various venues across the South East and she also took part in the 2018 MADhurst Art Trail.

Emily will be on hand to guide you through the session and give you plenty of tips and advice as you go. No previous experience is required to take part – ideal for those entirely new to coloured pencils or returning after a break.

Tickets include a sketchpad and handout to keep. You will need to bring your own coloured pencils in a range of shades - the more colours you have, the better. Faber Castell Polychromos are a particularly good mid-range brand but there are plenty of others out there too. Ensure you have a selection of neutral shades including browns and greys as these will really help you on the day.

Refreshments and sweet treats will be provided. The workshop will be held at the Birchington Framing Centre and Gallery in Birchington, Kent.
