Our learner drivers have not paid to attend, and the course remains heavily subsidised for all participants. This course is being delivered on a not-for-profit basis.

Course overview

As a driving instructor with a strong background in clinical training, it was clear to me that I could be doing more than just teaching people how to drive. Learning to drive is a significant milestone for many young people, and it's the perfect time to introduce skills that can make a real difference in an emergency.

Did you know that following a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a casualty’s chance of survival by 10%?

The European Resuscitation Council's 'Learn to Drive – Learn CPR' campaign was launched to help improve survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest by encouraging all new drivers to learn basic life-saving skills. The idea is simple: if more people know how to respond in those first critical minutes, more lives can be saved. It's a practical, forward-thinking initiative that fits naturally into the responsibility of learning to drive.

Being involved made complete sense. I’m in the rare position of being able to offer fully regulated first aid qualifications alongside driver training. This allows my students not only to gain the confidence and skills to handle the road, but also to act quickly and effectively if they ever witness a medical emergency.

This is more than just an extra option - it's a chance to give new drivers the tools to save a life.

With an estimated 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests occurring every year in the UK alone, make sure you are prepared!

The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) qualification has been designed to provide candidates with the skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support and use an AED safely in emergency situations.
