January 15th – Beginning a meditation practice
Discover the benefits of meditation & how to begin an effective meditation practice, including posture (whether using chair or cushion), creating a suitable space and making time to meditate amidst busy life.
January 22nd – Quietening the Mind
Learn two simple methods to still the busyness of the mind and find an inner clarity that gives you the space to find peace and serves as a preparation for more practical meditations.
January 29th – Training in Mindfulness
Learn how to train in mindfulness according to authentic Buddhist sources and use this part of the mind to its greatest effect.
February 5th – Overcoming Distraction
Learn how we can oppose the various types of distractions that arise in meditation so that we can start to improve our mindfulness and concentration.
Each class consists of two guided meditations and instruction. Anyone can practice meditation and everyone is welcome to attend. There is no physical exercise involved and seating is on chairs.
Buddhist nun Gen Nyingpo will teach this course. Gen Nyingpo has nearly 25 year experience of practicing and teaching meditation. She teaches in a down to earth way, with emphasis on practical application both in meditation and in daily life.
