Whether you are looking to get back in the saddle, or if you want your child to learn to ride without stabilisers, we are here to help!
During the session we turn each bike into a balance bike by removing stabilisers and pedals. Once our riders have got their balance we put on the pedals and off they go! We restrict numbers at each session to ensure everyone gets the support they need, therefore booking is essential. Please book one ticket per person taking part.
Bikes are available for use - please indicate when booking if you need to use one of our bikes. Helmets are also available for use during the session.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
You can contact Sustrans North East by email on SustransNE@sustrans.org.uk or on 0191 261 6160
What ages is this open to?
What about the weather?
Due to the unpredictable weather make sure you keep your phone handy with you on the morning. If we have to cancel the session we will let you know via the number you give us. Please make sure you all wear suitable clothes for the weather. This goes for the adults too!
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
The session takes place on the Bill Quay Farm. There is a small, free, car park at the farm, with only a few spaces. However, side streets surrounding the farm generally have pleanty of room for parking.
Do I have to stay with my child throughout the session?
Yes. A responsible adult must stay with their child at all times. We encourage you to get involved with the session as much as possible too.
What if you do not manage it this time?
Generally we get everyone riding in just one session. Some do need a little extra help, and if that’s the case with you, we can give you lots of top tips to help you keep practising at home. Plus we will run more sessions so keep checking.
