Just got riding on two wheels? Ready for your first family ride?
Then this ride is for you!
This family ride is roughly 3 miles long on mainly off-road path to Pelaw Quay Pond and back, and is ideal for new riders and ready to learn about riding with others. The ride will be a great opportunity for the whole family to spend time together and enjoy some fantastic wildlife. Parent/Guardians will have an opportunity to learn lots of handy tips to help them with their own fun family rides.
This is a family activity so we ask that Parents/Guardian do take part in the activity along side their children.
We restrict numbers at each session to ensure everyone gets the support they need, therefore booking is essential. Please book one ticket per person taking part.
Bikes are available for use - please indicate when booking if you need to use one of our bikes. Helmets are also available for use during the session.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
You can contact Sustrans North East by email on SustransNE@sustrans.org.uk or on 0191 261 6160
What ages is this open to?
What about the weather?
Due to the unpredictable weather make sure you keep your phone handy with you on the morning. If we have to cancel the session we will let you know via the number you give us. Please make sure you all wear suitable clothes for the weather. This goes for the adults too!
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
The session takes place on the Bill Quay Farm. There is a small, free, car park at the farm, with only a few spaces. However, side streets surrounding the farm generally have pleanty of room for parking.
Do I have to stay with my child throughout the ride?
Yes this is a family ride which will offer parents/guardians and children an oppertunity to learn together.
What if you do not manage it this time?
Generally we get everyone riding in just one session. Some do need a little extra help, and if that’s the case with you, we can give you lots of top tips to help you keep practising at home. Plus we will run more sessions so keep checking.
