Learn to Row Day 2017
Sat 22 April 2017, 10:30 – 16:00 BST
Ever fancied taking up rowing?
Come and try it out on our next taster day on Saturday, 22nd April, 10.30am-4pm.
For the price of £65, we'll teach you how to row on the rowing machines, in our bespoke rowing 'tank' (pictured above), and give you three outings on the beautiful river Thames.
Our club members and coxes are extremely experienced at teaching beginners - and you don't need to have done any kind of rowing before; we'll teach you everything you need to know.
What will we be doing?
You'll be taught the technique of rowing on the rowing machines, then in our tank room before being taught how to do it on the river itself. Our experienced coxes and coaches will take you on three separate training outings to put your new techniques into practice - but don't worry, there's no experience necessary!
Do I have to be super fit?
No. We'll be working on your technique during these sessions, but you will still feel like you have done exercise at the end of it. If you have any health concerns or questions, please do contact us beforehand so that we can discuss it with you.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
If you're under 16, please get in touch with us at email@example.com
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
You can park on Putney Embankment, then it's a short walk along the towpath to the club (we're opposite Fulham Football Club).
If you're coming on foot, you can come from either Putney Bridge on the District Line, or Hammersmith on the Hammersmith and City, Piccadilly and District Lines. It's about a half hour walk from both.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Please bring clothing suitable for sports - depending on the weather, you may want a light sports jacket or top that you can take off in the boat if you get too hot.
A change of socks or two is recommended, as your feet may get wet! We also recommend people bring a change of clothing, although noone has, to date, fallen in!
There are a limited number of lockers at Barn Elms which take a £1 coin - this is refundable.
Don't bring any valuables - we share changing facilities with other clubs and Parr's Priory Rowing Club isn't liable for anything that goes missing or is stolen.
Please bring something to eat for your lunch, a water bottle and a towel.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Contact the club secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org
