Learn to skate with Birmingham Roller Derby!
Overview
Looking for a new hobby in 2026?
Want to get fit, make new friends and be part of an amazing community?
Then sign up to our new skater intake session - suitable for returning skaters and those brand new to being on wheels!
We'll loan you protective equipment and skates, and take you through the basics including stance, falling safely, stops and stride. If you're doing well, we'll throw in some more advanced skills!
You'll also learn more about the exciting sport of roller derby, and what you could expect if you sign up to our new skater academy programme.
If skating is not for you, we have other roles within the league in which you can get involved such as a Volunteer or Non-Skating Official (NSO).
To book your spot:
- E-mail recruit@birminghamrollerderby.co.uk
- Tell us about you, and let us know if you need to hire protective kit and skates (and what size!)
- We'll give you all the information you need along with your waiver
On the day:
Wear comfortable clothing, such as gym wear. No jeans!
Bring water and a snack for after
