Event description

Description

Do you love taking photos of old buildings and impressive monuments? Grab this chance to improve your skills, learn to take photos in 3D, and build a Virtual Museum!

DigVentures is hosting 'Anglo-Saxons in the North East: A Pop-Up Museum', which brings together a rare collection of Anglo-Saxon artefacts.

As part of the exhibition events series, we're running this FREE workshop, showing people how to make digital 3D copies of the artefacts on display.

You’ll learn how to turn photos into digital 3D models using photogrammetry - a technique used by archaeologists and conservators to record ancient sites and artefacts. Together we’ll try it out on some of the items on display!

You’ll get to be part of creating a virtual museum for these incredible artefacts, and don’t worry, the method is surprisingly simple... once you know how to do it, you can use it at home to create your 3D photos!

The exhibition is part of Etched in Stone, a National Lottery Heritage Funded project to collect and curate a Virtual Museum of all the Anglo-Saxon namestones discovered in the North East.
