About this event

  • Event lasts 1 day 6 hours

Over 2 days in this purpose-built space you will learn all the basics for weaving krokbragd, under the guidance of weaver and textile designer Angie Parker.

Angie has been obsessed with weaving this traditional Norwegian boundweave technique for over thirty years. She has spent that time creating the contemporary designs from this age-old technique, for which she is known.

The workshop will cover:

  • The principles of krokbragd and boundweave
  • Designing with krokbragd
  • How to achieve neat and even selvedges
  • Setts
  • Materials
  • Rug weaving tips
  • Weaving with colour
  • Finishing off techniques

You will need to bring a notebook, but all equipment and materials are included in the cost.

You will be weaving on a Louet Erica 4-shaft loom which will be pre-set in preparation for the workshop. Warping your own loom will be covered in the workshop too.

The class size is restricted in numbers to allow plenty of hand on support from Angie whilst you get to grips with the trickier aspects of weaving krokbragd.

The sessions will begin at 10 am until 4.30 pm with a tea break in the morning and afternoon.

A simple lunch is included in the workshop. Unlimited tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided and the sessions are fun, intensive and friendly.

IMPORTANT. The workshop involves some standing and repeated actions. Those who suffer from lower back pain might experience some discomfort. Seating is available and taking regular breaks is recommended.

CANCELLATION Terms and conditions

To ensure that the workshops are priced reasonably for the participants, and viable for my business, they need to run at capacity.

Where I can, I will work with you to find a solution to any issues affecting your attendance.

All the workshops are non-refundable in all circumstances, however, every effort will be made to offer transfers.

If you give more than 28 days notice to cancel your options are as follows:

I will be happy to transfer you to another workshop, space permitting, or place you on the waiting list if someone else cancels.

If there are no suitable future dates for you to transfer to I can provide a voucher to be used for a future workshop booking, this will be valid for one year from the date of issue.

If you wish to send someone else in your place, this is fine, but please inform me before the workshop of any changes.

If you give less than 28 days notice to cancel then your options are as follows:

You can send someone else in your place, but let me know in advance.

If your place is re-sold I will then book you onto a new date, or place you on the waiting list

If you would like to transfer and the place is not re-sold, I can add you to a last-minute availability waiting list for future dates of the workshop. If there are still unsold places on the workshop with 24-48 hours until the workshop is due to take place, we will offer you a place at no additional charge. Please note this option is not a guarantee of a space.

In the unlikely event that I have to cancel a workshop, you will be given at least 24 hours' notice and offered a transfer to another date, a voucher to be used at another time or a full refund. I can not be held liable for any other costs or expenses that you may incur in the event of cancellation.
