Event description

Description

Growing the faith of children and young people is vitally important, as most people come to faith at an early age. Indeed, you may well have had your first positive experience of Christianity when you were very young. In order to take forward this work, we are holding a Diocesan Day Conference in the Cathedral on Saturday, 2nd February. The theme will be Learning and Growing Together, and the focus will be growing younger disciples of Jesus Christ.

To help us think through these issues, we are delighted to have three high-calibre speakers.

Chris Russell works at Lambeth Palace as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s advisor for evangelism and witness. He is also vicar of St Laurence in Reading, which has a particular mission among young people.

Neil Hudson leads the Church Team at the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity. For ten years he has helped churches to become communities where whole life disciples develop and flourish.

Ally Barrett is Director of Pastoral Studies at Westcott House, Cambridge. She is also a writer who brings experience of parish ministry, children's work and the creative arts.

In addition, there will be a choice of workshops and opportunities for conversation. A sandwich lunch and hot drinks will be provided free of charge. Cold drinks will be available to purchase.

All clergy, Readers, youth and children's workers, and interested lay people are invited.

Finally, please also consider whether you might be able to bring a young person with you subject to your current parish safeguarding policy. Anybody bringing a young person must also have the necessary DBS clearance.

We look forward to welcoming you to this energising and informative day!
