Learning Behaviours: A Practical Guide to Self-Regulation with Sue Cowley
Event Information
About this Event
In this online training event, Sue Cowley will explore the subject of self-regulation – what it is, how it develops and how you can support your children in learning to regulate their own behaviours. She will examine ways in which you can use co-regulation to support the children to move towards self-regulation. She will look at how challenge, trust, responsibility and agency are all crucial in helping children develop self-regulation skills. Sue will share practical strategies that teachers, practitioners and support staff can use to help their children build empathy, control their impulses and become more able to manage their own emotions and their own learning.
Sue will offer ideas for practical ways to support children in building independence, resilience, attention, self-control and levels of personal responsibility. During the webinar, she will consider the complex subject of motivation, examining questions about the use of rewards and consequences in settings, and looking at how educators can help children to build intrinsic motivations to both learn and behave. She will also share ideas that staff can use to support children’s wellbeing and explore ways to work in partnership with families to get the best outcomes for the children. This will be a practical, realistic and engaging session, with plenty of opportunities to interact and to share your own thoughts and ideas.
This course will be useful for practitioners and teachers in all phases, but will be of particular interest to those working in early years settings and primary schools. Sue is renowned for the practical, realistic and down-to-earth style of her approach - this will be an engaging and interactive session.
This course can also be offered as a bespoke webinar for staff in your setting at a time of your choice. Contact Sue on sue@suecowley.co.uk to find out more.
