About this event
Berlin and other cities around the world are over-flowing with single-use packaging. Time-starved and convenience-hungry consumers, combined with a global pandemic that forced many bars, restaurants, and cafes to change their business models to adapt to new rules and regulations, have seen the use of single-use takeaway packaging (and the littering of our parks, streets and neighbourhoods), steadily increase.
Luckily, a simple solution to solve this problem already exists: replacing single-use packaging(Einweg) with Re-usable (Mehrweg) options. Ensuring nationwide use of reusable cups, food boxes and tableware alone, has the potential to save around 800,000 metric tons of CO2 each year compared with disposables. So, how do we encourage businesses and consumers to take a more sustainable approach, and how can you help make this possible? Our upcoming Learning Circle led by Meg Koch is the perfect introduction for learning more about the upcoming regulations coming to Berlin in 2023, the different ways businesses can implement reusable solutions, as well as what we as consumers can do to help increase awareness and use of Mehrweg locally.
The Agenda:
10 mins: Introduction round: Participants explain why they are here/ why they are interested in the topic.

20 mins: Questions, exchanges, discussions on the topic by everyone in attendance.
5 mins: Wrap up.
