In May 2016, Capital Mass posted up a blog written by Sian Brookes and her father +Graham. The blog "Getting Older" has been the most read article placed on our site.
This communicates high levels of interest across the Diocese in this area and deep levels of compassion for elderly members in our communities who are isolated.
So what can we do?
On the 3rd November, Capital Mass will host an evening at the home of Bishop Graham for all who have a desire too or are ready engaged in, addressing the damaging effects of isolation on the elderly.
We will host a learning community which is a space where we can make connections, learn from each other, encourage each other, share new ideas and find inspiration.
The idea is that this will be the first of many learning community evenings on this theme and how they'll look going forward will be shaped by you on this first evening.
So who is this for
The evening is for all in a parish who are leading projects or running pastoral schemes, which are aimed at intentionally combating isolation in the elderly. What will unite this group is the missional focus but what each person will bring is a fresh, innovative and unique way of addressing it and that's how we learn together.
If this is an area that you are passionate about then I look forward to seeing you on the 3rd November
