A number of clergy in the Diocese have been in contact with us about the support many of you offer to people within your churches and communities who have outstanding immigration cases with the Home Office and do not have recourse to public funds.
This can be a huge commitment over a number of years where often you’ll be the only constant for them and their families in an otherwise chaotic world. These can be desperate situations and with little support elsewhere you can be the only ‘go to’ place.
This learning community is an opportunity to gather with other clergy, to share experiences, offer mutual support and learn together. During our time together will also be providing some input on the following areas;
- The immigration process, accessing legal advice and legal aid. Why people have no recourse to public funds.
- Financial and accomodation support options for people with no recourse, including for families with children.
- As clergy, how best can you assist in their immigration cases.
Lunch will be provided.
I look forward to seeing you in the 6th.
