Event Details

This training aims to enable people with a learning disability to successfully access health screening and overcome fear and anxiety they may have about the process, utilising desensitisation.

We will discuss techniques in the training to respond directly to evidence of how the health needs of people with a learning disability are not currently being adequately met. The training is a practical evidence-based framework,which will discuss tools and extensive resources for supporting individuals to have basic health screening through familiarisation and desensitisation. This is essential for ensuring quality of life and the best possible health outcomes, by monitoring and treating the common conditions people with learning disabilities suffer from.

The Square Peg (North East) C.I.C.

The Square Peg (North East) CIC was set up in November 2016 as a Community Interest Company to change the way we care and support people with autism and intellectual disabilities in the North East of England.

We have over 14 years experience of working with adults and children with learning disabilities and/or autism. We hold professional qualifications and have previously worked for NHS organisations as well as the Care Quality Commission as specialist inspectors.
