Janet Scott From SCTCI will talk about AAC and Learning Disabilities
Janet is a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist who works for the Scottish Centre of Technology for the Communication Impaired (SCTCI): a specialist AAC centre based in Glasgow. Janet along with her team covers the whole of Scotland providing assessment, training, advice and support about low and high tech AAC. Janet has been involved in numerous research projects, one of her most recent projects being the IPAACKS AAC Competency Framework which she developed with NHS Education for Scotland.

Access to AAC including aspects of access assessment such as positioning, cognition, sensory and environmental factors as well as access modalities for low and high tech AAC.
Vocabulary selection options and layouts, including planning for language & communication development in the AAC user.
Stacking the odds in favour of successful intervention in AAC.
An update on advancements in AAC coming from the International AAC Conference and the Communication Matters Conference.
