Event description

Description

Are there specific communities that would benefit from your service?

Do you find it difficult to engage with a diverse range of families?

Questions are often raised about what works in supporting black and minority ethnic families. Yet there is growing evidence that explores solutions to barriers to engagement and best practice in parenting and family support for these communities.

This is a free learning event for those working in the children’s voluntary sector particularly targeted at practitioners and managers with a responsibility for engaging black and minority ethnic families in parenting support.

This learning event will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to feel confident to engage and work better with families from diverse communities by:

  • Giving an overview of the research on the experiences and support needs of black and minority ethnic families
  • Providing the opportunity to explore what works in implementing better practice with these families; and
  • Signposting to sources of further information.

There will be opportunities for individuals to reflect upon the practical application of these discussions in their practice and their organisation.

This event is being supported by funding from the City of London Corporation’s charity, City Bridge Trust
