About this event
Learning for Sustainability through Enquiry
- Are you a teacher who is interested in embedding LfS practice in your classroom or school, but not sure where to start?
- Are you already engaged in LfS practice and you want some inspiration about how to increase engagement across the school?
- Or perhaps you are embarking on a practitioner enquiry and are considering focussing on LfS?
- Are you interested in joining a Scotland-wide network of teachers who are passionate about LfS?
This online, interactive event will share the new National Framework for LfS in Initial Teacher Education and unpack how this framework can be used to support a whole-school or individual approach to embedding LfS in your practice through practitioner enquiry.
Claire Ramjan (University of Glasgow) will start the event by describing the evolution of the framework and outline practical ways that it can be used by teachers and school leaders to support practitioner enquiry around LfS in urban, rural and island schools.
Using the ‘4 C’s’ of Curriculum, Cultures, Communities, and Campus, Lizzie Rushton (University of Stirling) will use a series of ‘touchstone questions’ to inspire, frame, and focus practitioner enquiry questions. These discussions will ask you to focus on LfS in your own settings and help you to work towards an enquiry question that you could take back into your own professional experience.
Finally, Beth Christie, (University of Edinburgh), will bring the event to a close with a reflective summary of the key points of discussions and ‘orientations toward actions’ going forward.
Who should attend:
This event has been designed for all teachers working in Scotland, across urban, rural and island schools, at any career stage, with an interest in LfS and practitioner enquiry. It is also open to those who support them, including educators working within teacher education and local authority staff.
