About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join curator Lilian Fraiji (LABVERDE) and The Showroom’s director, Gabriela Salgado in conversation, as they discuss the Speculative Ecologies residency programme and reflect on how art can contribute to tackling the climate crisis.

Speculative Ecologies is an international residency programme organised in the Amazon Forest, which focuses on the creation of new languages and empathetic practices in relation to the climate emergency.

Created by LABVERDE in collaboration with The National Institute of Amazonian Research (Inpa) and Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), the 2024 programme gathered a group of artists, indigenous people and scientists to come together to recognise and narrate nature, in an attempt to create new ways of existence and interaction with the environment.

About LABVERDE

Created in 2013, LABVERDE is a transdisciplinary platform based in the Brazilian Amazon. Its main focus is the development of environment-related artistic languages, working in the production and democratisation of knowledge through residencies, lectures, exhibitions, festivals, workshops and publications.
