Description

This session will be delivered by Lesley Weber, Service Manager for Hackney Domestic Abuse Intervention Service.

Working with domestic violence in a family situation can be complex and pose challenges. It is important that we understand the complicated systematic dynamics of domestic abuse and intervene in a way that does not inadvertently increase risk.

This full day session aims to:

  • Increase understanding of what is domestic abuse: cross government definition, theories and models, and abusive dynamics.

  • Review relevant legislation, guidance and policies that help inform practice.

  • How to screen for and respond effectively to domestic violence, decreasing risk and increasing safety.

  • Increase understanding of the impact of domestic violence on victims.

  • Intervening safely with victims and perpetrators.
