Description

Working with domestic violence in a family situation can be complex and pose challenges. It is important that we understand the complicated systematic dynamics of domestic abuse and intervene in a way that does not inadvertently increase risk.

This full day session aims to:
  • Increase understanding of what is domestic abuse: cross government definition, theories and models, and abusive dynamics;

  • Review relevant legislation, guidance and policies that help inform practice;

  • How to screen for and respond effectively to domesticviolence, decreasing risk and increasing safety;

  • Increase understanding of the impact of domestic violence on children, young people, victims and on parenting;

  • Intervening safely with children, victims and perpetrators.
