The Academy for Education and Professional Development: Learning@Lunch – ‘Collegiality and creativity in curriculum changes: A student focused ethos’

Thursday, 7 December, 12.00 – 1.00 pm, University Place, Room 6.211

Reducing over assessment of students is a key goal for the University. Dr Jane Brooks and Joanne Timpson will give an overview on how they worked collaboratively to achieve this in the undergraduate BNursing programme by creating a 20 credit unit. The underlying principal was to create a more streamlined assessment load across each year of the programme and reduce assessment burden to the students and staff. By amalgamating the two units this:

• addressed the students’ feedback comments

• enabled flexibility to support student academic transitions

• gave space to explore professional learning in a developmental and supportive manner.

The Academy for Education and Professional Development’s mission is “To ensure consistent high-quality development and delivery of educational programmes with students experience at their heart”. Academy events are open to all those who contribute to the development, delivery and management of FBMH undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development programmes including staff from across the University, the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre and our NHS clinical education partners.
