Event description

Description

Does your organisation lease property, or plan to in the future?

Break through the jargon and get to grips with rules and regulations with guidance from the UK's leading propety advice charity, the Ethical Property Foundation, and their partners Steeles Law LLP.

In this enjoyable practical workshop you will tackle the world of leases and property negotiations using real life case studies from similar organisations, as well as collaborating and networking with your small charity peers. After the workshop you'll have the chance to gain valuable legal guidance and ask any questions you may have regarding your organisation's lease in additional 1:1 advice sessions.

You will learn to:

  • Understand some of the legal jargon and demystify a lease

  • Understand the negotiation process and how to evaluate what is right for your organisation.

  • Understand what the principles within a Heads of Terms document mean

  • Understand different types of agreement – lease vs licence

  • Recognise and understand how to manage common problem areas, such as rent reviews, break clauses

  • Understand the principles to be followed when reviewing or terminating your lease

The workshop will run from 11:30am to 3pm, with a break for a complimentary lunch from 1-1.30pm.

Following the workshop will be a series of 1:1 advice sessions from 3-4:30pm, giving you the chance to talk through your organisation's challenges and plans in a 20 minute session with Lisha, Ian or Michael. You can register for a session at the same time as booking your ticket on Eventbrite, and slots will be allocated at a later date.
