I’ve finally managed to book this guy — The Hacker (aka Michel Amato) — a hugely important figure in electronic music. He helped define the so-called electroclash movement alongside Miss Kittin, and he’s remained consistent and prolific ever since. He continues to release incredible records, most recently the Lazer & Smoke EP on Rekids.
His sound blends influences from Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Front 242, LFO, Drexciya, and Detroit techno — exactly the kind of ethos that inspired me to start Leatherette in the first place. So it’s no surprise I’ve always wanted to book him for the night.
We’ve been talking about it for quite a while now, as he really connects with the vision behind the event. I couldn’t be more excited to finally make it happen — and for our 3rd Birthday, no less.
I feel truly grateful to have kept this going, and it seems to keep growing with every event. Come celebrate with us on September 6th — it’s going to be something special.
