Event description

Description

Harriet Wistrich is a solicitor at Birnberg Peirce and Partners and founded the Centre for Women’s Justice, a multi partner organization aimed at bringing cases holding the state to account in relation to violence against women and girls. She has acted for a number of women in successful appeals against their murder convictions, most recently for Sally Challen in her pioneering appeal on grounds of coercive control.

About the Women in Legal Practice series

The Dickson Poon School of Law has created a series of four lectures to celebrate 100 years of women being allowed to enter the legal profession.

Alongside these celebrations the Dickson Poon School of Law has launched a widening participation project, working with Colleges of Further Education in London, to encourage applications from mature students to universities in the Russell Group and, in particular, to increase the numbers recruited to study law at King’s.

Our centenary lectures will work to highlight the importance of women’s contribution to law and the legal profession and will promote the King's College London Strategic Vision, which places knowledge at the heart of all our activities.
