Description

Welcome to the Leeds 50th Soca Monarch Show. We have 7 contestants fighting for the lyrical battle of Leeds Soca Monarch King 2017. In addition, guest appearances by Nevisian Calypso King Dis n Dat, and our very first King, Lord Silky.

Our international act is the legendary Mighty Baron. The Baron was born Timothy Watkins on 14th March 1947. He grew up in Bamboo Village, La Romain, South Trinidad. Baron started singing in 1971. The Baron give us hits like Melosian Raphsody, Say Say, Somebody, Ridiculous, Mother earth, River of Tears, Double Standard, Dis Melody Sweet, We are having ah Party, Socaman and is also on the Soca Parang vain he give us Come go, Its Christmas again, Carmenante, Baron is ah sweet man, Parang by meh door and the never ending Spanish woman just to name a few, Baron has over three hundred Calypsoes, he started singing at the Kalypso Revue from 1984 Carnival and is there up to present. He received the Humming Bird Medal Gold in 2016.

This year the show will be presented in a seated marquee, with an amazing live band, horn section and full backing vocal support. This is a night for the memory books!
