Leeds-Bradford Ogden Trust Partnership Christmas Lectures
Tue 6 December 2016, 17:30 – 19:30 GMT
The Leeds-Bradford Ogden Trust Partnership brings you the second of our Christmas Lectures. Join us for an evening of student presentations (with a festive twist) and an acclaimed act that collides the scientific method with comedy. Award winning scientists from the LHC will show us how to find the infamous Higgs Boson particle for ourselves - all under the supervision of the “Voice of Reason” Stephen Fry!
‘The Ministry of Sense: Hunting the Higgs’ is the first show of its kind. It’s a highly interactive and comedic show which puts you in charge of making one of science’s greatest and most exciting discoveries! Using a smartphone or tablet (please DON’T switch off your mobile!) you will have direct access to Large Hadron Collider data, completing interactive games to help solve problems and create mock proton-proton collisions.
Developed by The Royal Institution London and UK wide award-winning scientists and science communicators. Dr Sam Gregson, Matilda Hay, Dr Aidan Randle-Conde, Jordan Porter and Dr Suzie Sheehy together with geek-pop sensation Jonny Berliner. The highly interactive show will see you analyse data from the Large Hadron Collider using your own smart device - please bring them along!
Join us from 5:00pm with warm refreshments provided, the show commencing at 5:30pm.
Access is via the Community entrance at the bottom of the steps to the left of the main doors.
