Would you like to help shape the creation and delivery of a new degree programme that can benefit communities in Leeds? Attend a focus group session to input into the development of an exciting new social change programme for the region.
The Carnegie School of Education at Leeds Beckett University, in collaboration with Doing Social (a social enterprise), will launch a new degree covering 'inclusive social innovation' at the university in September 2018.
In this programme, students will work with organisations, agencies and communities to facilitate the co-creation of solutions to local social challenges, on the community's terms rather than on others'. They will gain knowledge and skills which will enable them to advise strategic and other organisations on good co-creation and inclusive practice and they will help develop the capacity of communities to engage in ways that are helpful to them. Students will leave with the ability and confidence to work in education, children and young people's sectors to ensure underprivileged communities are meaningfully included in co-creating innovation and solutions which lead to better life chances, improved livelihoods, and a more inclusive economy.
The purpose of the focus group session on 27 March, is for local residents, third sector organisations, and public sector agencies, to input into how this course is co-created and co-delivered in Leeds. We're also keen to hear your ideas for how we can best support the community to participate in and benefit from this programme, as well as your suggestions on the degree content.
If you want to have a say in the development and delivery of the new degree, then please book your free place at this focus group session today. Places are limited (only sixteen places are available). Please forward this invitation on to others you think might wish to participate in this event.
Networking lunch will be provided at 12.15. The focus group session ends at 15.00.
