Leeds Hyperlocal March
Date and time
Description
Young Rewired State is a worldwide community of young digital makers aged 18 and under who solve real world problems using freely available open data. Since 2009, we've met up once a year at our Festival of Code to create awesome projects and meet new friends. Now, we're upping our game, and making it our mission to continue to find, nurture and support the next generation of tech talent all year round with Hyperlocal.
The aim of Hyperlocal is to bring together the local tech and creative community of Leeds with the young digital makers of the future to create awesome things with technology, design, digital media, code and open data.
For March we're so excited to be taking Hyperlocal to Leeds Central Library. We're setting up camp in their super cool Portal with expert mentors to develop skills, ideas and most importantly...have loads of fun!
This month we're going to be having a look at the Hyperlocal challenge which is inspired by our sister organisation's National Hack the Government event. With politics a hot topic, and lots of issues in the upcoming General Election directly affecting young people, how can we use digital to make sure young people get their voices heard by government? Log in to hl.yrs.io to find full details of the challenge.
As someone aged 18 or under, you can take part as a participant. If you're over 18 - you can support the next generation of digital makers as a mentor. Bring along a laptop, tablet, camera or any other equipment you have and let's get creative!
