Event description

Description

The Leeds Lent Prayer Diary 2019 Launch event is a free citywide event, that has a whole host of things on offer, on the theme of Leeds, Lent and Ecumenical Mission. It’s going to be an informal event, with plenty of time to mill about, chat and discover new things about Leeds. The event is jointly organised by Leeds Church Institute, Leeds Christian Community Trust and PrayforLeeds.

To give you a flavour of what will be on offer

  • Keynote address by Duncan Stow, Horsforth Churches Community Outreach Project. The project helps the church to be visible; help release the potential of church congregations working together and encourage a Christian presence in the High school.
  • An opportunity to come and meet some of the projects featured in the Leeds Lent Prayer Diary 2019. Come along and find out more about what they do, which parts of Leeds they serve and ask them to show you their interesting object – now you’re intrigued! These guys are working hard to see Gods’ kingdom come.
  • A workshop on ecumenical research with Paul Lancaster. What are the life-giving ingredients for mission? As our city continues to become more multicultural, what resources are now available?
  • Information about Leeds – An opportunity to discover more about Leeds with Helen Reid, Director of the Leeds Church Institute, including experiencing Leeds through VR!
  • A prayer room facilitated by Leeds City Prayer Community. They will be using a combination of resources, worship and the Lent Prayer Diary, within their usual prayer rhythm which will include worship.
  • Diary Collection Point – Leeds Church Institute is one of the designated 5 places across the city that ordered diaries can be collected from. If you haven’t yet ordered any diaries and you’d like to, this can be done here.
  • Food – Everyone is welcome and a buffet will be provided! To help with catering please will you book your ticket via Eventbrite or email events@leedschurchinstitute.org, alternatively you could phone 0113 391 7928.
