Celebrating traditional and contemporary print process through type and image.
The one-week Leeds Print Festival 2016 at Munro House has a programme of exhibitions, talks, workshops and performances covering all print disciplines. The unique collection of events will deliver a dose of inspiration whilst drawing attention to print and it’s importance in contemporary design culture.
Leeds Print Festival is proud to present a series of talks from creatives who work with, play and love print chaired by Darren Hill. Darren Hill is a Principal Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University, his contemporary academic deployment is situated within the School of Health & Community.
Alan Kitching is a world-renowned typographer, designer and letterpress practitioner with work spanning over fifty years, from his days as an apprentice in the 1950s to the present day. Alan's work has featured on magazine and book covers, postage stamps, theatre posters, billboards and signage.
Alan will be bringing copies of A – Z of Letterpress book with him that will be available for sale after his talk.
Founder of The Designers Republic, Ian Anderson is responsible for some of the best known for album artwork in recent history. An engaging design aesthetic with a leaning towards controversial irony and social commentary, Ian's work is held in the permanent collections of MoMA and the V&A.
Danny Leigh has has co-hosted BBC1's long-running film programme alongside Claudia Winkleman since 2010 .The Guardian's' film writer, novelist, journalist and broadcaster and BBC4 writer and presenter, is currently writing his third book. Danny will be discussing some of the most iconic and notable film posters of all time and those that through the printed medium initially attracted him to film.
Doors will open from 10.00am with talks commencing at 10.30am.
