Leeds Print Festival 2016
Celebrating traditional and contemporary print process through type and image.
The one-week Leeds Print Festival 2016 at Munro House has a programme of exhibitions, talks, workshops and performances covering all print disciplines. The unique collection of events will deliver a dose of inspiration whilst drawing attention to print and it’s importance in contemporary design culture.
Leeds Print Festival is excited to announce a printmaking workshop host by Equip.
The workshop will introduce screenprinting by breaking down the process and demonstrating what can be done with this amazing technique. Most importantly it is about rolling up your sleeves and printing with materials you can take away with you and make your own prints in your garden shed, on your kitchen table or in front of the television. You'll be working with beautifully crafted GF Smith papers and eco-friendly inks that are good enough to eat and drink.
Joe and Jonny make up Equip, a duo that specialises in traditional printmaking processes that celebrate the materials and craft of print. Their print practices explore the hand-made and experimental side of the discipline, which, allows them to become inventive and get their hands dirty, making the process very accessible and fun.
An introduction to screenprinting that is suitable for all ages and first time printer makers. Aprons will be provided but you might get messy.
