What is and what are the aims of LEEP?

LEEP is an introductory leadership development course made up of 4 half-day modules. Leadership education is critical for optimising patient care and our working environment, empowering staff to develop skills required for the complexity of modern-day healthcare delivery.

Who is LEEP for?

LEEP is designed for all clinical healthcare staff within the NHS. At Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Trust, we have recently opened up the course so it is no longer exclusively for doctors.

Question 3

What does LEEP 4 cover?

Accepted Answer

LEEP 4 looks outward from ourselves, teams and organisations to consider the complexity and volatility of systems around us. Systems leadership, complexity theory and “wicked” problems are all covered.

Question 4

How is LEEP delivered?

The course is delivered virtually (Microsoft Teams) by a senior clinical fellow and, typically, a consultant faculty member.

How is LEEP funded and managed at Chelsea and Westminster?

We receive the course fee directly from NHS England for any doctor that is F2 level or above AND in a recognised training programme. Those not meeting these criteria, we require that you self-fund the course and encourage you to claim the cost from any study budget that may be available to you.

Which ticket type should I choose?

Only choose NTN if you will be a medical trainee at F2 or above level (e.g. Foundation trainee, IMT, specialty trainee) at the time of session delivery. By signing up to this ticket, you are agreeing that you meet these criteria and in case of error, you are liable for general admission cost.

What is your refund policy?

Cancellations more than 7 days before the course: full refund. Cancellations  more than 48 hours before:  offered a place on another suitable day (email: chelwest.leep.wm@nhs.net ). Neither can be offered for no-shows except in exceptional circumstances.

Question 8

Do I have to complete the modules in order?

Accepted Answer

It is recommended to complete the modules in order because the course is designed such that concepts from earlier modules are utilised in later ones. It is strongly recommended to first complete LEEP 1 then LEEP 2.

Question 9

Are there further requirements for the completion of LEEP?

Accepted Answer

To receive a completion of LEEP certificate, we require you to complete the 4 modules and also produce evidence of a quality improvement project (QIP) that has utilised concepts learned in the course. There is no time limit for completing the QIP.
