Event description

Description

2nd July 09:30 – 16:00 Legacies

Legacies provide around £1.9 billion income for charities every year and should be a key part of any charity’s funding mix. In 2008, 15.8% of wills contained a charitable bequest, compared with 9.5% in 2006. The legacy market is experiencing strong growth and all charities no matter how large or small should consider how they can build a legacy income stream.

Target Audience

This course will benefit anyone who wants to develop a legacy fundraising programme within their charity or improve their strategies for promoting legacy giving.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the unique characteristics of legacy fundraising and the benefits to their charity.
  • Identify, prioritise and engage legacy prospects.
  • Develop appropriate and effective communications related to legacy giving including written materials.
  • Comply with relevant legislation and best practice in relation to legacy fundraising.
  • Develop a legacy fundraising programme that complements other types of fundraising in the charity and evaluate its success.
