About this event
We’d love for you to join us in Poole on 20 and 21 September 2025, where you can see your special legacy lifeboat in person.
At the event, you’ll get the opportunity to see the lifeboat up close and find your loved one’s name in the numbers and letters on the side of the lifeboat. There will be printed banners around the site to make it quick and easy to find their name.
This event will last 45 minutes, which includes a visit to the RNLI College, light refreshments, and the opportunity to see the Kilkeel legacy lifeboat.

Frequently asked questions
You’ll have an opportunity to view the lifeboat for 15 minutes, and you’ll be on site for a total of 45 minutes. The lifeboat will not be on the water during this time.
You will be able to book tickets from Tuesday 12 August on this Eventbrite page. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so please don’t delay. We cannot accept bookings via phone or email.
You can book a maximum of four tickets per name on the lifeboat. When you book your tickets, you’ll be able to choose a date (Saturday or Sunday) and one of the timeslots available between 10am and 3pm.
Children over the age of 5 will need a ticket. So if you plan to attend with children under the age of 5, please let us know by emailing legacylifeboat@rnli.org.uk. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
You must book your tickets in advance to attend this special event. Please email the Legacy Lifeboat Team at legacylifeboat@rnli.org.uk to find out about additional ticket availability before the event. Where possible, we will try to accommodate any last-minute tickets on the day.
Yes, there is. However, any cancellations will be automatically re-released on this page. This page will remain open until midnight on 7 September 2025. If you were not able to secure tickets by this date, please send an email to legacylifeboat@rnli.org.uk to join our waitlist.
Only assistance dogs are permitted to this event. Anyone bringing a dog will not be permitted into the College or All-weather Lifeboat Centre.
Please plan your journey carefully – follow directions to RNLI College, West Quay Road, Poole, Dorset, BH15 1HZ. There will be signage on the day to help you find the car park, and volunteers close by to direct you. Limited parking will be available opposite the college.
If you’re planning to stay overnight, we advise you book your accommodation after you have received your confirmation email with your tickets from Eventbrite. And if you are thinking of staying at the College, please make sure to book a room in advance as they cannot guarantee availability.
Yes. A video is being made and will be uploaded to the legacy lifeboat updates page after the event and will also be sent directly to all supporters signed up to our update emails. This will be accessible to all and free to watch.
As Kilkeel Lifeboat Station is on a working harbour, unfortunately, it is not possible to host an event at the station. However, when the lifeboat isn’t on service at Kilkeel, it will be on a pontoon that’s visible to the public.
Once you’ve booked your tickets, you’ll receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite. Your tickets will be inside this email. Please check your junk inbox in case the confirmation email happens to appear there. You can also find your tickets by logging into your Eventbrite account.

Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your allotted timeslot.
Yes, the event is outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Remember to bring sunscreen, and waterproofs and an umbrella if it’s raining. The lifeboat will be outdoors, but won’t be on the water during the event.
The RNLI College offers delicious food for you to enjoy on the day – grab something light from the Slipway Café:Bar or have a buffet-style lunch at Riggers Restaurant. We recommend booking a table before your visit to avoid disappointment on the day.
You’re more than welcome to take photos and videos during your visit.
If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed by the RNLI during your visit, please let us know when you arrive.
