Event description
Legal aid lawyers have been at the frontline of challenging the hostile environment. Hear from 3 leading practitioners about their work.

About this Event

The "hostile environment" for migrants resulted in the Windrush scandal and vital public services being used for immigration control.

Legal aid lawyers have been challenging the hostile environment since it was first introduced, from representing victims of the Windrush scandal to bringing strategic litigation aimed at finding parts of the scheme to be unlawful.

YLAL is delighted to convene a panel of three legal aid lawyers who are leading the fight against the hostile environment:

  • Derek Bernardi, Camden Community Law Centre
  • Shu Shin Luh, Garden Court Chambers
  • Jacqueline McKenzie, McKenzie, Beute and Pope

This event is likely to be popular and registration does not guarantee you a seat so please do arrive promptly.
