Summary:

DAC Beachcroft invites you to a 90-minute virtual session on the law and practicalities of managing legal risk in relation to whistleblowers and encouraging speaking up in the workplace.

In more detail, we will:

  • Have an interactive discussion around encouraging speaking up in the health context, including sharing experience and best practice;
  • Consider the legal framework around whistleblowing and the legal protection for whistleblowers;
  • Consider the legal risks to employers and the practicalities of how to mitigate those; and
  • Advise on how to deal with whistleblowers to minimise the legal risks.

 

Objectives:  

By the end of this webinar you will:

  • Have further insight on how to foster a culture of speaking up;
  • Understand the law on whistleblowing and the legal risks for employers;
  • Understand how to manage and mitigate the legal risks in the workplace.

Outcome: 

This event is designed to be interactive and there will opportunities for professionals to share their experiences and approaches to encouraging speaking up.

  

Target audience: Mid to senior-level HR professionals

Facilitator:

Jenny Walker is an employment lawyer who advises on the full breadth of employment law issues, from providing advice on day to day HR queries to advising on strategic projects such as restructures and collective consultations.  Jenny has particular expertise in employment tribunal litigation and regularly advises clients in relation to complex and high value claims involving allegations of discrimination, bullying and harassment, whistleblowing and unfair dismissal.  

Eleanor Frankish is an employment lawyer with experience of advising healthcare clients in the public and private sectors.  Eleanor predominantly acts for employers in Employment Tribunal proceedings in relation to claims for whistleblowing, discrimination, unfair dismissal and breach of contract.  Her advisory work covers advice on a range of areas including disciplinary/capability, and grievance matters for medical and non-medical staff.
