About this event

Other

Joan of Arc. Lady Godiva. Isabelle of Castile.

Well-known names, but have the stories of these women been misrepresented and exploited for political ends?

In this talk, based on her latest book Legenda, historian Janina Ramirez will question established narratives to uncover the real stories of the women behind the legends. She’ll interrogate what defines a nation and who gets to build it, shining a light on how history is so often hijacked to serve the ideological and political interests of the present.
