An ONLINE course exploring myths and legends, and the light they cast on British history and archaeology.
Led by storyteller and historian Jon Norman-Mason, you'll hear folklore from around Britain, and myths from Welsh, Norse and Anglo-Saxon traditions and more. But we will also look at the periods they come from, the people who told them, and what the stories might tell us about those lives and times. Moving chronologically from prehistory to medieval times and beyond, we will see how evidence from history, archaeology and legend can complement each other, and ask: can stories give us a glimpse into life in the past?
A combination of storytelling, teaching and guided discussion, this course is aimed at people who love mythology and history and want to deepen their critical understanding.
The course will be held via Zoom - link will be provided after booking.
The course is planned as a sequence of sessions, each building on the preceding content - but there is no obligation to attend every session, and you are welcome to book individual sessions if you wish.
No previous qualifications necessary. Age 16+. Younger children are welcome to attend at parent/guardian's discretion, if accompanied by an adult over 18.
