Description

Come along to a Health Fair with a difference, on Saturday 6 July, 11am – 3pm at the University of Leicester. Have a great day, enjoy fun activities and learn about the health and safety of the ones you love.

The ‘pay as you feel’ event will feature something for everyone, including:

  • health information and advice

  • information stalls about local health services

  • face painting

  • teddy bear clinic

  • Inflatables

  • Mini Bikers

  • food stalls

  • Treasure hunt

  • and much more.

The Leicestershire Partnership Trust, University Hospitals Leicester, Leicester Council’s Public Health Department and other local and community groups will work together to provide advice, help and information on a range of health concerns, offering advice on issues such as:

  • Breast checks

  • Infant Feeding

  • Mental wellbeing (children and adults)

  • Stopping smoking

  • Strokes

  • Heart Disease

  • Diabetes

  • Air Quality

  • Daily mile programme

  • Macmillan Cancer

  • bowel cancer screening and inflatable walk-through colon

  • And much more!

In our special Children and Teen’s Zone, teenagers can find out about sexual health, stress relief and feel the effect of beer goggles, while children can engage in activities around issues like dental health, mental wellbeing, school readiness, and hand-washing while taking part in fun health-related activities at the Creation Station or paying a small donation to get their face-painted.

Medical students will run a teddy bear’s clinic, and the Attenborough Arts Centre will use work-shops to demonstrate the benefit of art on mental health.

You can receive defibrillator training from Leicester University Community First Responders, and CPR training from Heartwize in our Learning Zone, as well as find out about careers or further study in medicine and allied health professions.

The Healthy Lifestyle Zone will have a rolling programme of 20-minute Born to Move and Zumba sessions.

Outside the main marquee, our visitors will be entertained by medieval jousting from Enter Edem, bouncy castles, lawn games and you can party with your little ones with Bambino Disco! Children and adults alike will also be fascinated to see inside the police car and army battlefield ambulance!

There are plenty of picnic areas if you would like to bring your own food, or there will be plenty of refreshments on offer, for example:

  • Chilled and Grilled

  • Tilly’s Mobile VW Ice Cream Parlour

  • Penny's Fruit and Veg stall

  • Pick’s Organic Farm

  • A Bite Different

  • Picnic Boxes for children

All this to a back-drop of performances from: The Levy band, LALU Ukele (1pm), Nicola Mirams on the flute (1.30pm), the UHL Highs & Lows Diabetes Children’s Choir (2.15pm) and the Breathe Easy Choir (12pm).

You can also join the Leicestershire Partnership Trust at their Annual Public Meeting. This will be 12-1pm in the Ken Edwards Lecture Theatre. Find out more about local mental health, learning disability and community halth services.

Through engaging in health advice, physical activities, relaxation sessions and informative workshops, our Health Festival aims to educate people to make positive choices around their own health and wellbeing while providing a fun day out for the whole family.
