Current Entries: Open, Major, Minor

This is a junior six round swiss rapidplay chess competition (all players play in all rounds) in three sections (Open, Major and Minor).

The Minor section will be ungraded and is for inexperienced players or players graded below ECF 25 who are Under 12 (at 01/09/18). It's ideally suited for school chess club players new to competitive tournament chess. Instruction will be given in how to use a chess clock to those new to it.

Time Control: 15 mins per player

Please note this section will start at 9:45am and will run to a shorter schedule than the Open and Major Sections. We anticipate prizegiving for this section will be at 14:45pm

The Major section will be ECF graded and is Open to all junior players graded below ECF 80.

The Open section will be ECF graded and is Open to to all junior players.

Medals will be awarded in all sections: Gold (5-6pts), Silver (4-4.5pts), Bronze (3.5pts)

Time Control: 25mins + 5 second increment per move

Additional Notes for Parents and Competitors

Please note that all players must be accompanied by an appropiate adult during the day.

Round times may vary from the published schedule particularly in the Minor section

The default time for the Open and Major Sections will be 30 minutes after the start of the round

Ungraded players entering the Open and Major sections must give full information regarding their playing ability, including previous results and any grading held previously. Failure to do so may render a player ineligible for an award. The August revision of the July 2018 Rapidplay ECF grading list has precedence over all other lists. If a player has a Standardplay grade but no Rapidplay grade the Standardplay grade will be treated as the player's grade.

Smoking is not permitted on the school site

Ball games are strictly forbidden inside the school building
