This lecture will consider how Leith has been depicted on maps from the 16th century to the present day.

About this event

From trading port, and fishing village, to municipal Burgh and industrial hub – the history of Leith is rich and varied. This lecture will consider how Leith has been depicted on maps from the 16th century to the present day, and explore how historical maps can help trace the social and commercial development of the Burgh over the centuries.

Laragh Quinney is Maps Reading Room Manager for the National Library of Scotland, where she oversees the Maps Reading Room and Enquiry Service, and helps make available over 2 million maps in the Library’s collection.
