Event Information
Description
Lemn Sissay, Writer and Associate Artist at the Southbank Centre and renowned inspirational poet and playwright returns to the University this summer. Lemn’s last public lecture in 2010 entitled ‘Wireless and Looking for Reception’ had the audience captivated and moved by his powerful talk and poetry recital about his experiences of growing up in the care system. Lemn will talk about beating the odds when they seem stacked against you. He will speak candidly about his own journey from birth to the villages of Lancashire to Buckingham Palace where (shortly after he was made an Honorary Doctor of Letters at the University of Huddersfield) he was given an MBE from The Queen.
